Working with stress and feeling overwhelmed
Counselling for Stress and Overwhelm in Brighton
Stress can build over time, leaving you feeling stretched, pressured or unable to switch off. At times it can feel like everything is too much, with constant demands, racing thoughts or a sense that you are always trying to keep up. If stress or overwhelm is getting in the way of your life, counselling can offer a space to talk things through and begin to understand what is contributing to it.
I offer counselling for stress and overwhelm in Brighton & Hove, providing a calm, non-judgemental space where you can explore your experience at your own pace, with someone who will listen carefully.
Alongside in-person sessions at my Brighton practice, I also offer online counselling, so support is available wherever you are.

What Does Stress and Overwhelm Feel Like?
Stress and overwhelm can show up in different ways. Sometimes it feels constant and hard to switch off. Other times it builds gradually, until things that once felt manageable begin to feel like too much.
For some people, it’s a mind that won’t slow down, moving from one task or worry to the next without a break. For others, it’s a sense of pressure, as though there is always something that needs attention, or a feeling of being stretched too thin. Stress can also affect you physically — tension in the body, headaches, difficulty sleeping or a sense of restlessness that doesn’t settle.
You might notice it becoming harder to focus, make decisions or feel present in what you’re doing. There can be a sense of constantly trying to keep up, without feeling like you ever quite get there.
If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to carry it on your own either.
How Counselling Can Help with Stress and Overwhelm
I offer counselling for stress and overwhelm in Brighton, working in a way that is collaborative and responsive to you. There are no quick fixes or rigid approaches. Instead, counselling offers a space to slow things down, talk things through and begin to understand what is contributing to how you are feeling.
Stress can sometimes feel like a constant part of life. But together, we can begin to look at what sits beneath it — the pressures, expectations or patterns that may be building over time. As this becomes clearer, it can create space to respond differently, rather than feeling caught in the same cycle.
Counselling can help you:
Notice patterns that may be contributing to stress or overwhelm
Understand what is driving the pressure you are feeling
Find ways of responding that feel more manageable
Create space for yourself, rather than constantly reacting to demands
There isn’t a single way this work needs to look. This is about your experience — whether you want to better manage stress day-to-day, understand what is behind it, or simply have somewhere you don’t feel under pressure.
In-Person Counselling in Brighton & Online Sessions
I offer counselling for stress and overwhelm in Brighton & Hove, as well as online counselling, so you can choose what works best for you. In-person sessions provide a space away from everyday demands where you can reflect more freely. Online sessions can be helpful if you feel more comfortable in your own environment, or if you’re based elsewhere in the UK.
Wherever you are, the aim is the same — a calm, supportive space where you can talk things through and make sense of what’s going on.
