Counselling for Self-Esteem and Confidence in Brighton

Low self-esteem can affect how you see yourself, your confidence and the choices you make. It can show up as self-doubt, overthinking or a sense of not feeling good enough, even when there is no clear reason for it. If this is getting in the way of your life, counselling can offer a space to talk things through and begin to understand where these patterns come from.

I offer counselling for self-esteem and confidence in Brighton & Hove, providing a calm, non-judgemental space where you can explore your experience at your own pace, with someone who will listen carefully.

Alongside in-person sessions at my Brighton practice, I also offer online counselling, so support is available wherever you are.

If you’d like to find out more or arrange a free 15-minute introductory call, you’re welcome to get in touch by phone or WhatsApp on 07410 040348, via the contact form below or by email at johncreigancounselling@gmail.com

What Does Low Self-Esteem Feel Like?

Low self-esteem can show up in many different ways. Sometimes it’s obvious — a lack of confidence, second-guessing yourself or holding back in situations where you might otherwise take part. At other times, it’s less clear, more of a sense of not quite feeling good enough, even if you can’t explain why.

For some people, it shows up as a constant inner voice that is critical or doubtful, questioning decisions or focusing on what went wrong. For others, it can feel like comparing yourself to those around you, or feeling as though you are falling short in some way.

Low self-esteem can also affect how you relate to others. You might find it difficult to speak up, set boundaries or trust your own judgement. Over time, this can lead to avoiding situations that feel exposing, or feeling disconnected from yourself and what you want.

If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to work through it on your own either.

How Counselling Can Help with Self-Esteem and Confidence

I offer counselling for self-esteem and confidence in Brighton, working in a way that is collaborative and responsive to you. There are no quick fixes or set formulas. Instead, counselling is a space to talk things through, make sense of what’s going on and begin to understand how these patterns have developed.

Low self-esteem can sometimes feel like part of who you are. But together, we can begin to look beneath the surface — at the experiences, thoughts and feelings that may be shaping how you see yourself. As this becomes clearer, it can open up more choice in how you respond, rather than feeling stuck in the same patterns.

Counselling can help you:

Notice and understand patterns that may be affecting your confidence

Explore where self-doubt and critical thoughts come from

Begin to relate to yourself in a different way

Feel more able to make decisions and trust your own judgement

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. This is about your experience — whether you want to build confidence in specific areas of your life, understand yourself more deeply, or simply have somewhere you don’t feel judged.

In-Person Counselling in Brighton & Online Sessions

I offer counselling for self-esteem and confidence in Brighton & Hove, as well as online counselling, so you can choose what works best for you. In-person sessions provide a space away from everyday life where you can reflect more freely. Online sessions can be helpful if you feel more comfortable in your own environment, or if you’re based elsewhere in the UK.

Wherever you are, the aim is the same — a calm, supportive space where you can talk things through and make sense of what’s going on.

Taking the First Step

If you’re struggling with self-esteem or confidence and would like to talk, you’re welcome to get in touch. You don’t need to have a clear plan or know exactly what to say — we can begin with whatever feels most present for you.

Whether you’re in Brighton, Hove or elsewhere, you’re welcome to arrange an initial session or a free 15-minute call to see whether this feels like the right space for you.
